So glad we have an app. Now now Im one click away from my news
I dont like the new website 9to5 designed, so I decided to try the app thinking it would be better, but its a fail too. Thanks
I expect a LOT from an app that reports on other apps and technologies. They know what to do. It takes a really long time to update upon launch. I have an iPhone 6S Plus with 100Mbps internet. Lets get some background refresh going on. Lets get some force touch going on. So its basic for me. I actually prefer to read 9to5 Mac via the Apple News app.
I love this app. Makes things much easier for me than going to the website every day. Of course there could be some major improvements.
I love 9to5Mac and the app is fairly decent. I like the dark theme option. But I just cant get pass all the in your face ads. I would gladly chip in a couple bucks for a no ad option. Otherwise, I wont use this app.
I love the purpose and intent of this app. Easy to keep up on the news with good UI and push notifications for stories. However, those notifications do not work most of the time. When they do, they all come in at once and cover a couple days of posts... thats a lot of notifications. Also, the stories are slow to refresh.
Good start. It would be great if you would add a payment model to get rid of ads. Also, adding 9to5Google and 9to5Toys within the app instead of popping out to Safari would be nice. Of course youve already told us you are working on split screen, etc. keep up the good work! Update: you really need to work on page/story loading speeds. The app appears to be a thin wrapper for a Safari web view and should be much faster.
Very cool day and night theme. Even more cool is the rotated feature with the feed on the left and content on the right. And not to forget the moving clock loader is set to the current time wherever you are (although its hard to notice with how fast it loads). The ads arent annoying at all, and the app format is easy to read and navigate. One request Id ask for is to sort by category (iOS, Mac, Guides, Reviews, etc.) like they have on the website; other than that great development overall!
The pull to refresh is really broken, the offset should stay like a loading indicator when refreshing. The actual feed also needs to include the other sub sites to be useful. Im constantly pushed back to the websites just because I cant access 9toToys or electric from the app rendering it practically useless to me. Id rather use the app over the browser though.
This app makes it very convenient for me to get the latest news. I havent had any problem loading or refreshing any feeds.
Disappointed that this app still isnt optimized for iPad Pro more than 2 months after its release. If there were an IAP to remove ads, I would happily pay. Without said option, I would rather visit 9to5mac in safari.
This is such a good app when it comes to all things Apple related posts. But there are defects regarding how the app works. Every time I open the app and try to tap on a post it doesnt want to open which forces me to close the app and launch it again. Until this is fixed, it remains a 4 star rating.
9to5Mac is pretty much my favorite news source and this app is very good for reading those stories. Great design, confirms to iOS guidelines, simplistic, and easy to use.
Great app -- the only thing lacking is a paid option to remove adds.
Great !.... saves having to search across many sites to get a clear view of whats up in the apple world.
Needs some work. It takes awhile for anything to refresh. PLEASE include a full screen mode! Thanks for dark mode!
Loads fast, and looks more organized than the website.
The App is just ok right now. It needs some work. The load times are relatively slow. Also the notifications do not seem to work. I hardly ever get a notification even though there are new articles. Currently I do not see the benefit of using the app over just browsing the site with Safari. Offline support would also be a great feature. Right now I have to save all the articles to Instapaper.
